The innovations of Ford electric vehicles recently delved into the realm of the legendary Mustang. Although the Mustang Mach-E is powerful, Ford wanted to show that an electric Mustang can still dish out mind-blowing numbers. Thus, the Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 was born.
The electric Mustang Cobra specs put other supercars to shame. You thought the Shelby GT500 or even last year’s Mustang Lithium concept was powerful? The new Cobra Jet 1400 was named for its horsepower output. That’s right, it delivers a whopping 1,400 horsepower. And it has a staggering 1,100 lb-ft of torque. All of that, and it barely makes a sound when the driver pushes down the accelerator.
On the racetrack, it provided a quarter-mile in the low eight seconds with a top speed of 170 mph.
Ford wanted to show its most advanced technology with the heritage of the Mustang name. What better way than through an electric Mustang Cobra. Unfortunately, the concept is not to go into production or even participate in an official race. You’ll be able to see it in action at a drag event later this year.
Thanks to the collaboration with MLe Racecars, Watson Engineering, AEM EV, and Cascadia, we can see how powerful an all-electric Ford vehicle can be.
