2020 Ford Ranger Awarded Truck of the Year Title by Free Press

2020 Ford Ranger Awarded Truck of the Year Title | Nick Nicholas Ford Blog | Inverness, FL

The Detroit Free Press named the 2020 Ford Ranger its Truck of the Year at the end of December, citing its “combination of value, features, and capability.” The 2020 Ranger small pickup truck is the first production model of the beloved truck since Ford suspended its run in 2012.

Starting at just $24,410, the new Ranger is more affordable than the second- and third-place trucks of the year, according to the Detroit Free Press. The Ranger comes with the advanced 2.3-liter turbocharged engine, which puts out 270 horsepower and paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, allowing it to tow up to 7,500 pounds.

DFP also complimented the abundant features on the Ranger, including Trail Control, which makes off-road terrain easier to cross with electronic throttle control, as well as advanced collision alert with automatic braking. These features make the Ranger safer and make it easier for you to enjoy your ride.

The 2020 Ranger offers a range of packages, too, so you can customize it to your exact wants and needs. The FX2 Package, for instance, adds off-road tires and a rear-locking differential for better off-road performance, and the SXT Appearance Package gives the Ranger even more style. Other available packages include the Trailer Tow Package, Bed Utility Package, Ford Co-Pilot360™ Technology package, and the FX4 Off-Road Package.

Meet the Ford Mustang Lithium

2020 Ford Mustang in Inverness, FL

Ford is no newcomer to the world of electric cars, and soon, the automaker plans to offer an all-electric version of the Mustang. The automaker has already given us a good idea of what that green sports car might look like, thanks to the Ford Mustang Lithium prototype.

The Ford Mustang Lithium fastback made its debut at SEMA 2019 and had some pretty impressive specs to share. Under the hood, the Mustang Lithium has a Phi-Power dual-core electric motor that gets power from an 800-volt Webasto battery system and comes with special EVDrive Technology. This setup boasts over 900 horsepower and 1,000 lb-ft of torque.

There’s no delay to the pep and power of this engine, which is designed to weigh less than your average EV system. Plus, it uses a Calimer Getrag MT82 six-speed manual transmission that can shift up smoothly through the generous torque. Multiple drive modes offer a customizable flair to the ride, with settings that include Valet, Sport, Track, and the ever-appealing Beast Mode.

Ford rounded out the performance-oriented design with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, Forgeline wheels, Brembo brakes, and the Ford Performance Track Handling Pack.

While the Mustang Lithium is just a prototype, you can check out the classic Mustang at Nick Nicholas Ford.

What to Know About Letting Your Grandchild Borrow Your Vehicle

Teen's First Car in Inverness, FL

If you have grandchildren who are rapidly approaching the age when they can drive, you may be tempted to let them borrow your vehicle every once in a while. Still, before you do, you’ll want to read up on the rules of letting other drivers borrow your car.

The good news is that Florida has laws that allow “permissive use,” or car borrowing. According to this rule, if you let someone borrow your car with your permission, they will be covered by your insurance — although you could still have to pay the deductible and premium increases that could arise from an accident. In Florida, if the borrower causes damage to people or property, you’ll be liable for up to $100,000 per person, up to $300,000 per incident for bodily injury, and up to $50,000 for property damage. If the borrower is uninsured, or has less than $500,000 in insurance coverage, you’ll be liable for up to an additional $500,000 in economic damages stemming from the use of your motor vehicle.

If your grandchildren regularly use your vehicle, they need to be listed on the insurance policy. This will result in a more expensive policy, especially if your young drivers recently earned their license.

Of course, another option is to help your grandchild acquire a vehicle of their own. One of the best places to find a new vehicle for a brand-new driver is right here at Nick Nicholas Ford, where we have a wide variety of vehicles for you and your family members to choose from.

Ford Named One of Best Employers for Veterans by MilitaryTimes

Military Veterans | Inverness, FL

At Nick Nicholas Ford, we owe a debt of gratitude to all of the men and women who have served in our nation’s military, and we’re proud to serve a diverse community of veterans in the Inverness area. And now, we’re more proud to announce that MilitaryTimes has named Ford one of the best employers for veterans in 2019.

Ford was honored on MilitaryTimes’ Best for Vets: Employers 2019 list, making Ford and Lincoln the only dealership network in the entire automotive industry to make the cut. The MilitaryTimes list is a yearly recognition of the best businesses and organizations that prioritize supporting and hiring veterans.

Retired U.S. Army Colonel Vanessa Benson of Ford Motor Company Military and Veterans Initiatives called the award “a credit to our ongoing efforts with connecting transitioning military and veterans with great job opportunities,” adding that the Ford “commitment to our veterans is a core part of what makes us Built Ford Proud.”

Ford earned especially high marks for its policies that make it a military-spouse friendly workplace. These policies allow spouses of members of the military to have flexible hours and more flexible transfers due to the constraints of their partner’s military service.

Ford GoRide Inverness, FL

In today’s world, staying connected is more important than ever. Ford is committed to keeping everyone connected, and that commitment extends beyond Ford drivers. Recently, the automaker announced that it is expanding its popular Ford GoRide Health Service, a paratransit system that offers transportation to individuals with disabilities.

Ford believes that kindness and helping out the community are some of the most important parts of any business, and the further development of the GoRide service is a natural extension of this ethos. This service provides transportation for medical needs to people of all ages and disabilities.

The GoRide Health system works by automatically connecting people with dispatched drivers who can provide transportation to medical appointments. While the program was developed in the Detroit area, the program is now expanding to Ohio, followed by Florida and more states by 2020.

Minyang Jiang, GoRide Health CEO, has noted that the system is “gaining momentum because it is a reliable, human-centered service for people whose very lives depend on making their medical appointments.” She describes the service as a response to a growing need that simply wasn’t being met elsewhere.
